Monterey Bay Sanctuary: SIMoN Says

SIMoN Says is an annual publication that provides findings and trends from a wide variety of monitoring programs. The primary purpose of this publication is to provide readers with a general sense of the health of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. SIMoN Says also provides information on current issues of the Sanctuary and complements information on the SIMoN website, where more detailed information can be found. PDF versions of past SIMoN Says issues can be downloaded below.

SIMoN Says 2006
The 2006 issue focuses on the establishment of marine protected areas (MPAs) in the sanctuary. This issue provides information on the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) and various monitoring activities that contribute to the establishment of MPAs. These activities include the monitoring of upwelling areas, critical habitats, and areas of high biodiversity.

SIMoN Says 2005
This first iss ue of SIMoN Says focuses on recent monitoring of various habitats and issues in the sanctuary including ro cky shores, estuaries, kelp forests, marine mammals, water quality, and the deep sea. The 2005 issue provid es information on the findings of these monitoring efforts and implications for the future.
