More Information: Monitoring and management of the invasive alga Undaria pinnatifida
| FACTS |
- Undaria pinnatifida is a brown seaweed native to Japan, northern China, and Korea.
- It invaded southern California in 2000, and quickly spread northward, reaching Monterey Harbor in August 2001.
- Invasive species, such as Undaria, spread beyond their native range and into new habitats.
- In many cases, humans have unintentionally facilitated the spread of invasive species.
